Does Your PC Need to be Dewormed?

Conficker

For anyone using an older computer (i.e. any computer more than six months old), it can be hard to tell whether your system is just running slowly due to common minor issues like spyware, adware, and bloatware, or if you’re suffering from something more serious like the Conficker Worm that received so much press recently.

If you suspect that you may have been hit by the Conficker Worm, the Conficker Work Group has a handy (and cool!) little test- the Conficker Eye Chart. The Conficker Worm works by blocking your access to several virus protection sites. The Conficker Eye Chart contains images directly linked from these websites. If your computer can view the image, it should be able to access the site. The Conficker Eye Chart also contains a handy guide for interpreting what you see.
